Frequently Asked Questions
Some answers for some common questions about the Slot Car Racing Tracks in Canada site.
Does it cost anything to add a track listing here?
Nope, not a cent.
Do you make money at this?
Nope. This is something I’m doing to help the hobby.
I might someday add Google ads to the site, but there really isn’t enough traffic to make much money off it. Thats ok.
What is this site all about?
This website simply lists Slot Car Racing tracks to help people find Slot Car tracks to race on within their local town or city (or another town when they travel).
Isn’t this info available in other places?
Yes, but listings are often located within Forms or other hard-to-find locations. This listing makes it easy for someone to find a slot car track to race on if they are unfamiliar with a particular forum, forums in general or new to the hobby.
Some more casual clubs might not be listed on other sites or have websites, so they can use this site to find other slot racers.
Remember, just because you know something doesn’t mean everyone knows what you know.
I have a track in my basement. Can I add my track to this site?
Absolutely! As long as you’re open to new racers, we’d love to have you add your track or club to the listing. We don’t usually add the address for home tracks for security reasons. You can give folks that info after they contact you.
Should I worry about spam after creating a listing?
You will get more spam if you put your email out on the internet. We encode the email addresses so that bots can’t grab them, but that will only do so much.
I recommend setting up a specific free email address at Google for your track or club and having that email forwarded to the email address you use most. Google’s spam filters are pretty good, which should help keep the spam down.
Will you add forms or discussion groups to the site?
Nope, this is just a simple listing of tracks. Other places on the web offer those features.
Doesn’t this cost you money?
Not really. I own a marketing consultancy, Focused Creative, and we have servers for our clients. I can add these sites to our servers without issue – they don’t take up much space or bandwidth.
How many visits do you get a month?
About 500+, which isn’t bad, all things considered.
Why are you doing this?
There were tracks in my city that I never knew about. I’ve been a fan of the hobby since I was 10, but that was long after the glory days of slot racing, so I never knew they were there. I hope this will help people in my situation find a slot car club or track.
Who the heck are you anyway?
My name is Phil Emery, and I’m a marketing consultant, art director, podcaster and musician.
